I usually plan all my lessons ahead of time, but today I made a last minute change for my small group phonics lesson this afternoon. We were reviewing special vowel combinations, so I gave the two kids flyswatters for them to hit the different special vowel combinations that they hear in the words I told them. The game was going well with them hitting random answers to them actually thinking about the word that I was saying. All of a sudden, the two boys started to "trash talk" one another by saying that they were John Cena and the Rock! I tried to hold it in and did my best to help them refocus, but the other learning behavior specialist that shares a room with me could not stop laughing! Especially when the kid who was John Cena started doing the John Cena moves with his hands HAHAHA! Overall, the lesson itself went well, but the kids definitely got a little bit crazy at the end there.
